The Adventures of Full Set Distribution

Srimad Bhagavatam Set

by Guru Dasa (Mumbai)

We are trying to distribute Srimad-Bhagavatam sets, and so we carry them to every home. And by Srila Prabhupada's mercy we have distributed many full sets following the policy of "the more you show, the more you sell." While doing this we have met with some nice people.

We entered one home and soon came to know that it belonged to a police inspector. The host invited us into his living room and offered us a seat, and as soon as he saw that we were selling the Bhagavatam sets he brought out a few of Srila Prabhupada's books he had purchased from our devotees while on a train from Mumbai to Valsad. He said that he had read many books but only Srila Prabhupada's present the truth about the cheating of modern civilization. He especially liked "Life Comes from Life." He said this book had smashed modern so-called scientists by pointing out their cheating. He purchased a full set of Srimad-Bhagavatams and said studying the books would be a lifetime engagement for him.

Another time we entered a house that looked like an ashram. Soon we came to know that it was an ashram of the Swami Narayana sect, a bogus Mayavadi apasampradaya based in Gujarat. Two so-called sadhus lived there. We presented the Srimad-Bhagavatam set to them and, after discussing among themselves, they purchased a set for the ashram.

At another house the husband, wife, and young son were sitting outside. As soon as we started speaking about the Bhagavatam, the wife and son got angry and asked us to leave. The husband was a little interested but was afraid to express his interest in front of them. So before leaving we gave him the details of our regular weekly program and our mobile number. While on book distribution we often see that if a man is interested but his wife is not he will not buy a book. But this time something else happened. The next day the husband called and asked us to forgive his wife's rude behavior; best of all, he said he wanted to purchase a full set of Srimad-Bhagavatams! He wanted to meet us someplace outside his home. So we met and sold him the Srimad-Bhagavatam set. His wife and son had no idea about the purchase. Remembering their vociferous opposition to us, we asked the husband how he would handle the situation when they discovered he'd bought the Bhagavatam. The man said that since Srimad-Bhagavatam is nondifferent from Krishna, Krishna would help him!

Srimad-Bhagavatam ki Jay! Srila Prabhupada's transcendental book distribution ki Jay! Hare Krishna.
