Start studying the Gita!
Upon being asking whether he had the Gita, a boy replied, “No. I don’t.”
I replied, “Then please start studying the Gita from this very day.”
“But why the Gita? And why are you distributing the Gita?”
I answered, “Once you study it, you will know why. The topmost instructions to practice a happy, devotional life are in the Gita. And I am not distributing the Gita. It’s the mercy of Srila Prabhupada on this world that we have access to the Gita, as it is.
“Who is Srila Prabhupada?”
“The savior of the conditioned souls — Sri Srimad A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. You will know much of him and his mercy in the form of Krishna consciousness. Come to ISKCON and associate with devotees often.
“You are from ISKCON!”
“Yes.”
“But I can’t say whether I can read it.”
“You can. What is the difficulty? Do you find it difficult to breath? No. Because it’s natural! Our relationship with Krishna is also natural and already there: jivera svaroop haya krishnera nitya das. You just need to revive it, to become permanently happy. You revive the relationship by studying Krishna’s teachings & chanting his names. The Gita, therefore, is known as sambandh shastra.”
“How much does it cost?”
“A very small donation for a very big cause!”
