The theater perfomance

BOY GEORGE

By jïäna-cakñus däs (USA)

The following story took place some time back but it can still be used. The day was Saturday and we were at the Plaza in Kansas City. As we approached one group of men, the thought came to mind that they were either drivers or passengers on some bus. Mostly because of the badges they had dangling around their necks. This is common for public transport bus riders in the U.S. to have their bus badges around their necks. After asking them if they were riding or driving the bus, they replied riding and then their real identity was revealed! What we thought was an official bus pass for the City, turned out to be the all access passes the roadies wear for the Boy George and Club Tour.

After relating to them the mental intention to make it to the concert with intent to give Boy George the Lord's mercy, they reiterated that that would be nice. They told us to ask for them when we arrived at the theater. The priority on Saturday night in Kansas City is Maha-Harinam, so they had to go away with The Dharma, The Way of Transcendence.

Afterwards, the Temple was contacted about the encounter. A discussion ensued about the harinam party going to the theater to perform.

After the decision was made, the harinam party went to the theater for an outstanding performance of entertainment. We brought prasadam for Boy George. After the security extensively searched the package, finally it left our hands for his hands. As the Harinam Party enacted the loving pastimes of the Lord and His devotees, the word came that Boy George would like us to come into the theater for a little chanting. We made entry and stood in the doorway for a few minutes warming up for the upcoming event. As the Lord's holy names were chanted up and down the aisles, floods of hoots and hollers came ringing from the audience above us from the middle of the center stage. Having the opportunity to play before the bands went on was great. Afterwards, some of the audience members said that the chanting was better then the opening act. We were told to come backstage after the performance and we were able to meet Boy George, but there wasn’t that much interaction between the two sides.

Many good contacts were made and if there is any more chances like that may we take advantage of them.
