YOUR LETTERS

By Sara Bock

At our last meeting, Devamrta Swami mentioned that hearing other devotee's book distribution stories inspire us in our sankirtana efforts. I think he had a great idea about having a place for the Sastra Dana devotees to share our stories, to motivate each other to get more involved. Maybe there is room in the newsletter for some stories. Or maybe there could be a separate letter for it. I would be happy to help out in any way with this.

I will start by sharing my story from today.

I accidentally arrived one hour early to my eye doctor appointment in Santa Monica. I always keep some extra books in my car. So I thought, why not try to distribute some transcendental knowledge. I was a little nervous, but grabbed three of Srila Prabhupada's books and started walking down a busy street. At first, nobody was interested in my offer to give them a book and I felt a little disappointed and insecure. Then I thought: "Just surrender to Krishna, He will lead me." After this thought I saw a lady collecting signatures for a petition. I showed her the books. She smiled and said she used to read Srila Prabhupada's books a long time ago. I told her to pick one. She asked if she could have two. I said: "Sure." But then she asked if she could have all three! She assured me she would read them, so I said: "Yes" and invited her to visit the temple. She said she would come this Sunday. She was very grateful.

We should always have Srila Prabhupada's books with us in case we have some extra time. We can not let our insecurities overtake us. Krishna is in control and He will help us.

Your Servant.
