Alexia from France

Alexia from France

I met Alexia on Swanston Street and asked her whether she is from Melbourne. She said that she is from Paris and had gone to Tasmania to travel. She was in Melbourne for only a few hours and was heading back to the airport to take a flight to Paris.

I showed her a Bhagavad Gita and told her that I am a yoga practitioner distributing books on yoga.

She said, “I know about yoga, but I don't have any money to give you for this book. I have sent all my money back to Paris. Also, I have to rush to catch my flight.”

I told her, “That's okay. We can just go through the book for a couple of minutes, because you are interested in yoga. And you can take it later.”

She agreed.

I showed her the picture of how the soul changes bodies. Then I showed her the chariot picture. She was captivated by the explanation of it. She started asking about the mind and intelligence and their relationship. I showed her a verse about that from the third chapter and added that by practicing yoga our intelligence becomes sharp and spiritual, and can thus control the mind.

She went through the index and asked why there are different types of yoga and which is the easiest. I told her about bhakti-yoga and the ease of chanting.

At this point she asked, “Can I please take this book with me? I want to read it on my way home.”

Alexia took a Gita after giving a good donation, even though she said that she had no money, and commenced her spiritual journey. I showed her the contact details of our center in Paris and asked her to visit.

From the point when she was reluctant to take the book to the point when she requested the book was just five minutes. Who else can do this but Krsna? A senior book distributor from the Wellington Bhakti Lounge once told me that book distribution is a service wherein can you see the immediate reciprocation of the Lord.
