A Hare Krishna beggar meets a lady rich in heart

As I was standing at a gate in someones yard, calling out for someone to come, a young man came and said, “You Hare Krishnas, always begging. You're young. Why not get a job rather than beg?” While he was saying this, I felt overwhelmed with joy and was smiling. Then I responded that what he said was the best thing anyone has called me, and that is why I am here: because I am striving to be a servant of the Supreme Lord. You've seen me as a beggar. Thank you so much.” He seemed confused. I told him that we're...

Knowledge is knowledge, and it’s meant for everyone

While I was in Bali, Padma Locana Prabhu told me about an amazing experience he had at the annual arts festival in Bali last year. Here's his account: I was distributing books and a nicely dressed Muslim lady wearing a burqa approached me and asked whether I had the Bhagavad-gita. I said, "Yes, I do. Would you like one?" "I've heard that it is a sacred text and very famous." While I showed it to her, a Balinese woman approached us and said, "Why are you offering our book to someone of another faith? You should...

Profound Knowledge Made Someone a Book Distributor

We have a nice farm in southeast Germany called Simhacalam. Lord Nrsimhadeva is the presiding deity. While taking prasada there, I asked a book distributor, Advaita Simha Dasa, how he came to Krsna. Advaita Simha said, “Gaur Mohan approached me, and I gave a donation for a Science of Self Realization. At first I thought it was a cult, so I just wanted to hear what they have to say. But after reading a few chapters I realized that this is very profound knowledge. A year later I was looking for more books by Srila Prabhupada in a...

Adopting new ways of book distribution

Recently, I've had the good association of Hari Bhakta Prabhu (from Los Angeles) here in New Zealand. We were together over the New Year and again for a few days on book distribution until his departure. He was glorifying Jaya Caitanya Prabhu's set distribution: at tables, selling multiple books in one exchange. Inspired by this, and enthused by Devamrita Swami's request for such set distribution on the scene here in New Zealand, I purchased some string, a pen, and cork cards. Preparing them easily and efficiently on the street, I...

Krishna’s mercy in Sydney and Indonesia

While in Melbourne I heard about a Sydney devotee who distributed fifty sets in 2016: Dhira Lalita Prabhu. A few days later I was in Sydney, so I asked him how he did it. He said, “I always carry a set with me on sankirtan, and I always ask people whether they like to read. If they say yes, I take them to my car and show them a Bhagavatam set. Sometimes they take the full set. Krsna sends these special people to take sets. It's Krsna's mercy. He added, "After I distribute books for the day, I go to the temple altar and pray...
