Krishna’s mercy in Sydney and Indonesia
While in Melbourne I heard about a Sydney devotee who distributed fifty sets in 2016: Dhira Lalita Prabhu. A few days later I was in Sydney, so I asked him how he did it.
He said, “I always carry a set with me on sankirtan, and I always ask people whether they like to read. If they say yes, I take them to my car and show them a Bhagavatam set. Sometimes they take the full set. Krsna sends these special people to take sets. It's Krsna's mercy.
He added, "After I distribute books for the day, I go to the temple altar and pray to Krsna that the people who received books from me will read them and benefit."
————————— In Bali, while I was being driven to a speaking engagement, I asked the devotee driving, Rasala Prabhu, how he came to Krsna. He said that his father got a book in 1978, browsed through it, and then put it on his bookshelf. Years later Rasala saw it there and read it.
“I was amazed to read such truths and started chanting and then found the devotees, then decided to be a devotee. Now my father is also a devotee and my son has become a devotee. One book made three generations of devotees.”
Many interesting things have taken place in Bali. Another one concerned Padma Locana Prabhu, a businessman and the biggest book distributor in Bali. Long ago, he was showing a book to a student, and the student started arguing with him, arguing and arguing.
Padma said with conviction, "With all the knowledge you've attained since your birth till now, you still don't know who you are."
The student was stunned and asked him to tell him more. They sat down and Padma explained. The student was impressed and gave Padma his contact information. Padma would occasionally call him and invite him to the temple. But he wouldn't come.
Then one morning the student woke up with a desire to go to the temple. He stayed the whole day, while devotees explained to him the philosophy of Krsna consciousness.
Now he is a devotee and the editor of the main newspaper in Indonesia. He writes very favorable articles about the Hare Krsna movement, and for this reason ISKCON is now more respected in Indonesia.
