Lord Caitanya’s mercy
Madhava Mohini, Gita Govinda, and I were in Waipukarau for one day of the mid-year marathon, and we had permission to set up a book table in front of New World. About mid-way through the day, I called over a mature Maori lady (named Liz) with the line, “You look peaceful. Have you tried meditation?” She didn’t answer the question, but she came straight to our table. She seemed captivated by the books and pictures on display and flicked through the books one by one. She fully focused on looking and had little interest in...

I was distributing at Balboa Park in San Diego. Well, I should say I was trying. It was tough: one book in the first hour. I decided to move to another spot, because sometimes a change in place and atmosphere brings about a positive result. After about fifteen minutes a madman came into my new sacrificial arena. He was going all around the area trying to fight people: throwing chairs, shouting, threatening. He came to my table and started banging on it, knocking it down. Then Krsna sent a big gentleman to stop him from harassing me, and he...

I will share a story about the fructification of sankirtan. We never know what will happen. Even distributing a small book can turn into something amazing. Two Maori boys, cousins, showed up at the Bhakti Lounge shaved-up with sikhas and tilak. Where did they come from? Who were they? None of us knew. We found out that they had received “Chant and Be Happy” from a sister who had bought it at the New World mall in Papakura. They read the book and felt convinced that they have to give up “animal life” and seek devotees....

The ninety-year-old lady in the attached photo goes swimming three times a week near her house in Tel Aviv. In the few minutes that we were together in my taxi, she became captivated by the book I presented. Two days after, I drove her again, and she told me that her daughter is familiar with our books and they were discussing the topics in them. Yesterday, she called me again, asking for two more copies to give as presents. Her helper came down to pick up the books from me. This post is from Murari Caitanya dasa. Former national table tennis...
