Wicker Park revisited

Srila Prabhupada and his book

Dear Prabhus,

Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Recently i wrote in about the wicker park area of Chicago. The area is a haven for poor artists and some of the soaked materialists who have appetites for seriously gross sense gratification. So anyway, one day while there i was getting cold and i wanted to go into this building there. It is an oddly shaped V building which awakens a sense of the movie ghostbusters. I went in and due to the crime climate there the stairwell was locked and the elevator had sort of like a bouncer person operating the controls.

Wearing dhoti and kurta and having a stack piled with soft back gita's the elevator man just asked what floor seeing that i posed no serious threat. I asked for the eight floor and arrived there to find the easily accessible bathroom across from the elevator. I stepped into the bathroom trying to get encouragement and smell out the area.

Off i entered the hallway finding that all of the rooms were marked by the same insignia, such and such advertising company, or something of the sort. Ah… it looked bleak and then an employee started to come towards one of the doors. I started for the door to go in. He received me and i spoke, "i am being brave and coming in from the cold to distribute these books. so forth and so forth". He replied, " is this a translation from His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhuapada."

Wow! You know the rest. He took a copy and said, "had it not been for this being exactly what is was there was no chance of selling anything there". Okay it was just one book but it sticks out of the many people i met and it was interesting to see how Krsna took me to eighth floor spontaneously and had me enter exactly that door. Harinama Sankirtana Ki Jaya!

Your servant,

Jnana caksus dasa
