The Higher Taste
I remember my reaction when I first time read "The Higher Taste". It was the first Prabhupada book I had at my home. And I got it as a gift from my friend who never became a devotee, maybe later, because she did great job by distributing a scripture to me. She told me: "You like un-earthy esoteric matters, you might like the book". At home I read this book in two hours. While reading I was all my heart with Prabhupada's wisdom. I understood that I found what I was searching. When my grandmother – very religious christian woman – brought me some pancakes with eggs I told her: "From now I do not eat meat, fish and eggs". That was pure influence of Prabhupada on me. And my deep conviction influenced my grandmother. She said "ok". Later she was eating prasadam together with me. I did not know devotees yet, but believed Prabhupada, so in my mind or loudly I was chanting Hare Krishna Maha-mantra – everywhere I was, and offered the food to the Lord. The same day I wrote a letter to the temple, that I found what I liked and would like to come there to live as a monk. This is the influence of the pure soul – you also become purified.
