Tapping on the Brhad Mrdangam in Texas

Srila Giriraj Swami

Sankirtan is alive and well in Radha Kalachandji Dhama in Dallas. Srila Giriraj Swami came through and impressed upon everyone the importance of taking part in book distribution. He reasoned that all of our activities should be directed towards that goal, using the example of India Railways where they say that all of the different jobs everyone does are to work together towards keeping the wheels of the train rolling.

In an attempt to please Maharajah my wife Sri Rangavati Dasi and I headed out to some stores to try and sell Srila Prabhupada's books. The first person to buy one was a lady from Mexico who was getting in the car with her daughter. We helped load some of the groceries while she looked over the attractive new Spanish Science of Self Realization. She liked the changing body picture and gave a nice donation.

The next person was a lady from Cameroon, Africa who bought the "Introduction to Bhagavad Gita." A man from Tunisia bought oneÊwhile the Hombre that was fixing his automobile bought the "Science of Self Realization" Some 20 minutes later we noticed that the man who bought the "SSR" was leaning up on a car and reading the book intently. I wish I had a camera. We handed another "Intro" to a Gujarati college student studying to be a journalist. I told him that the book can help his studies as the Bhagavad Gita is one of the oldest literature in the world. He agreed and bought one. Then a man from Hungary who had been to the ISKCON temple in Budapest bought another one.

I approached an African America lady named Tricia. She had an SUV full of kids who were all interested. While she was looking at the books her cellphone rang and she told the caller "I can't talk right now, there's some people here with books on yoga and stuff. " She wanted to buy the "Science of Self Realization" but it was in Spanish, so she decided to give $10 for three "Introduction to Bhagavad Gita" saying "I've got friends who will like these." and promised she would make it to Radha Kalachandjis Palace to buy more books.

All glories to the Sankirtan devotees.

Your Servant,

Mishra Bhagavan Dasa
