New Living Expo Ecstasy

Bhagavad Gita

by Nilesh Vigela

On Saturday, we had an esctatic experience at the New Living Expo. Jorge prabhu set up the book stall in such a beautiful and systematical way, that people were pouring in and keeping every one of us engaged. I remember one person who was a vegan, stopped by and asked, "Do you believe that we are a separate entity from the Lord, or are we the same as being merged within the Lord?" When we explained that we are a separate entity, a broad smile appeared on his face, and he happily purchased a Bhagavad-gita. I saw him reading it as he roamed around the Expo… but it seemed none of the stores were getting his attention. Before we knew it, he came back and bought some more books from us!

The Sunday before the appearance day of Lord Narasimhadeva, we felt that Prahalad Maharaj was giving special mercy to the Spanish-speaking people at Walmart. We actually ran out of all the Spanish books which Rakshit prabhu had ordered. It was so rampant that we had to rush to Rakshit prabhu's home to collect the rest of the Spanish books. And by evening, they had all been distributed. People were asking for more books, but unfortunately we did not have any more Spanish books to give out.

At one point there were 7 of us spread across the entrance and exit of the Walmart. (It seemed as though everybody was going through an airport security check) and we were not allowing anybody to pass by without first seeing a book.

It was very encouraging to see two new devotees (Shito and Satya prabhu) selling their first books; Perfection of Yoga and Hidden Glories of India. They quickly learned some Spanish lines, and started stopping people, while experiencing the nectar of engaging in Srila Prabhupada's book distribution mission.

Here are a few lines in Spanish to assist our book distributors:

Have you heard of yoga? ¿Has oído hablar de yoga?
Do you believe in the power of prayer? ¿Crees en la energía del rezo?
Please let me teach you an ancient Sanskrit prayer. Dejarme por favor enseñarte un rezo antiguo de Sanskrit.
We do this to spread love of God. Hacemos esto para separar el amor del dios.
