Dear Devotees on the Book Distrabution Conference,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I am not a member of this conference, but wanted to post something of relevance. I am former full-time book distributor, and now I am a student at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Everyday I speak with students and professors about the Hare Krishna Movement. Recently I have been speaking with a young man named Aaron. He relayed his experiences with book distributors, which were very negative, and I asked him to write down the story. I hope it will express to you the importance of being detached, sensitive and cultured on book distribution. You have the potential to turn many people away from Krsna consciousness, just as you have the potential to bring them closer. Aaron was so offended by devotees doing book distribution that he decided that KC was not for him. He thought: "with members like this, it must not be such a good path." This is a real life example of someone interested in KC who was actually turned away by a "preacher."

I Hope this meets you well. I mean all of this in the spirit of Sri Caitanya, who wanted Krsna's names spread in every town and village, and not in the spirit of mere fault finding.

Your Servant,

Janaki-Rama Dasa
