THEY ARE NOT SELLING BOOKS
Prabhupada: The thing is that our spiritual master wants to preach Krishna consciousness, and he has repeatedly stressed to distribute books, we shall distribute books by any means, that is good. That is good. And if you become moralist that, "Oh, they're taking this means, that means for selling of book, so I'm big moralist. I'm bigger than him." No, I think that.. I do not know what they are doing, but I have information that they're [a divergent group of disciples] not selling books. (Conversation—1976, Honolulu)
"Regarding sales figures, please endeavor in this way. The sales figures-this is the only solace in my life. When I hear that my books are selling so nicely, I become energetic like a young man." (Letter: August 13, 1974)
"I am in due receipt of your weekly sankirtana newsletters. I am always happy to hear of increasing book sales. These reports are very encouraging to me." (Letter: May 19, 1975)
I am in due receipt of the Sankirtana Newsletters, and I thank you very much for assisting me in this mission of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. These reports are very encouraging to me, and I think our men will also be encouraged to increase the book distribution. This I want. (Letter to: Srutadeva, November, 1974)
I am in due receipt of your weekly sankirtana newsletters. I am always happy to hear of increasing book sales. These reports are very encouraging to me. Our real business is to print and distribute books. By doing this business, you are all becoming recognized by Krishna. Please try to continue working so nicely for Krishna, following the rules and regulations, chanting 16 rounds, and studying my books and you will finish your business in this material world in this life and enter into the spiritual world to live with Krishna eternally. Don't become discouraged by any so-called problems. Make your program simple, that is to say, always make sure that you are somehow or other engaged in Krishna's service, and the best service is preaching or engaging others in Krishna's service. So continue in this way and be happy. (Letter to: Srutadeva: 19 May, 1975)
