FROM LAGUNA BEACH

Letter from Maureen Maher

Dear Sastra Dana Prabhus, You don’t know how much it means to me to receive the Sastra Dana newsletter (especially when nice prasadam is enclosed). Being away from New Dvaraka all week is made so much easier with your inspiring publication arriving in the mail. Thank you! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

BOOKS IN MEXICO

Letter from Vamsi däsa’s family

Haribol Mahat-tattva Prabhu. I just wanted to tell you that we distributed the books we got from you a couple of weeks ago. I believe there were about 4 Spanish Bhagavad gitas, 2 English, several small Spanish, about 21 or so. We distributed the Bhagavad gitas and small books to a school in Ensenado, Mexico called “Castle by the See.” It is an American institution intended for self improvement; a transformational kind of program where kids that are having difficulty in their social or family life can come and learn accountability etc. So they took the books to their library. One lady wanted to borrow one of the Spanish Bhagavad gitas for herself to read before hand and we did that. We gave that school 4 small books and the rest of small books we distributed to the vendors on the way back (from Mexico) to USA at Tijuana. Sometimes you have to wait there a few hours in the line and the vendors come up to you selling candies, pictures and the statues of the holy Virgin Mary. So we distributed the rest of the small books to them, something like 15–16 small Spanish books. Looks on their faces were just incredible. Before receiving the books they looked as if struggling for survival. But after receiving a book they would give us a big beautiful bright smile and in that connection, between us, we could see that, “here is another spirit soul receiving Srila Prabhupada’s mercy.” So I wanted to report that. I still need to get back to you about the library in Pasadena. I shell follow upon that very shortly. Haribol Prabhu and hope to see you tomorrow at the Sunday Feast Program. Hare Krishna.
