While doing our first big Harinam and book distribution here in Koh Samui, we had a few interesting experiences.
Koh Samui is a very big tourist destination. We, BV Narasimha, myself, Kaliya Krsna Pabhu [AUS] and a group of Burmese Nepali devotees came from Bangkok on the invitation of the many Nepali Tailors who have their shops here.
While blissful kirtan and book distribution was going on, we met HG Syamasundara{ACBSP} who has been here for three months writing a book about George Harrison and his life with the Hare Krsnas. He was very excited since he feels that this is one of the prime places in the world to have a preaching center. The Nepalis are planning to build a temple so let us see if someone can dedicate his life.
The next night while distributing books I met one young English boy who told me that he always sleeps in the Hare Krsna Tent at the Glastonbury Festival. I asked him if the all night chanting did not bother him and he said that he loved it. He said that this year his girlfriend made him stay with her but that he missed the chanting.
Book distribution to the Thai people is very peaceful. Since we know very little of the language we just show them the books and a sign asking for a donation. Many like the books and take them. BV Narasimha Swami has distributed all over Bangkok and the community of devotees is growing. We are always looking for devotees to stay for a short time and distribute. Now we have a separate house and good facilities for guests to stay. There is no winter.
