ISKCON Juhu secures third position in Bhagavad Gita Book Distribution Marathon

Bhagavat Gita Distribution

ISKCON Juhu secured third position as part of Prabhupada Bhagavad-gita book distribution Marathon organized worldwide. The book marathon was originally initiated by Srila Prabhupada in the 70s to encourage and inspire devotees to sell large numbers of Bhagavad-gita during the Christmas season when people in the Western world are inclined to shop and in mood for a celebration. This initial spirit to distribute books caught on with devotees and translated into the worldwide Book Distribution Marathon during December whereby all ISKCON temples compete with each other to excel in this transcendental service.

The ISKCON Ministry for Book Distribution announces several prizes for top book distributors in various categories. While ISKCON Juhu secured third place, New Delhi and Mayapur were declared first and second respectively at the Book Distribution Awards program held at Mayapur in February 2012.

More than 200 devotees actively participated from ISKCON Juhu  and distributed Bhagavad-gita at various locations  in Mumbai including railway stations, mini-markets, corporate organizations, etc.

A Book Marathon Felicitation program organized on 10 March 2012 saw Gopal Krishna Goswami, Braja Hari Dasa, Murli Krishna Dasa, Jagjivan Dasa and Nrsimhanandan Dasa distribute awards to the winners. Hara Das, Congregation Coordinator, and his team were the top Bhagavad-gita distributors in Mumbai. Several veteran book distributors shared their book distribution experiences and spoke about the mercy of the Lord which guided them through all their endeavors.
