Emptying a trolly full of books started with an emotional exchange

In Vysoke Myto, a small city in eastern Czech Republic, I was alone, having been dropped off in the morning by my sankirtana partner. As we do in these smaller areas, we spilt up to increase the number of books being distributed. So alone in the small city with a trolly full of Srila Prabhupada’s books, I was looking forward to a new adventure. In the morning, the streets were nearly empty, so I visited some shops. In one shop, I showed a lady in her fifties the books. She responded negatively, saying, “I don’t want these books....

A sure way to please Srimati Radharani on Radhastami

Tomorrow is the anniversary of the divine appearance of Srimati Radharani, famous as the best devotee of Krsna. No one can please Krsna as well as Srimati Radharani. In a purport, Srila Prabhupada says, “She is the tender-hearted counterpart of Krsna.” Lord Caitanya is known as the most compassionate incarnation of Krsna, because Lord Caitanya is not only Krsna but also Radharani: Sri Krsna Caitanya Radha Krsna nahe anya. When devotees go out to distribute books and the holy name of Krsna, Radharani is very pleased, because this gives the...

A bouquet of flowers for . . . (surprise!)

I was distributing books at a community market in Australia, where I met a florist who had a booth. He was happy to take the Bhagavad-gita and a few small books. He gave a generous donation and on top of that, he gave me a bouquet of flowers. He expressed his interest in visiting the ISKCON farm, New Govardhana, and said he would come for the Sunday feast. I was happy to meet such a favorable person and pleased that he gave me something special to bring back and offer to the Deities. I stuck the stalk of the bouquet into my backpack, and the...

Some appreciation…

This is a letter sent to us by Indradyumna Swami: Dear Sir, Yesterday my family and I attended your event, the Festival of India, in Mielno. It was a wonderful experience. I read about Lord Krishna as a teenager when one day, by chance, I came across a book called, “The Science of Self Realization” in a local library. I was only 10 years old at the time and it wasn’t easy reading. Even today I am still trying to grasp the deep knowledge within that book. One thing I have understood from reading it is that my present life is...

Guru and Gauranga are so kind

My full schedule didn’t leave me with much time to get out on Sankirtan. I only had a 20 minute slot available, but still I wanted to try and make some small offering to Srila Prabhupada on his appearance day. It was a sunny day so I started distributing on the very street I live on in Petone, Lower Hutt. Amazingly almost everyone I met took books and 8 pieces of literature went out! The session got off to an auspicious start when I met a nice, sincere, Christian Gentleman who took the time to bless me. He asked Jesus to bless me in...
