New Book Distribution lectures, Italy TSKP, and a story from Rome

Hare Krsna Prabhus, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Recently the ISKCON Desire Tree website has added a number of book distribution lectures. Most were given by senior book distributors from around the world during the Mayapur festival; a few were given by me in various countries on my way to Mayapur. To find them, just go to www.iskcondesiretree.net, find the book distribution category, and open it up. You'll see the new ones. I'm in Rome now, associating with the sankirtan devotees and giving...

Prabhupada Sells the Gita

I was outside Foodtown in the Mt. Eden section of Auckland. I had three "Journey of Self-discovery"s in my bag. A short man in his 60s with a long white beard called out to me as he emerged from the supermarket's sliding doors: "Got the Bhagavad Gita?" I told him "Sure! I've got a few copies in my car," and began accompanying him to the car, which was parked a few yards from the entrance. As we walked he asked whether the Gita I was going to show him was the original one, unchanged. He wanted the Gita...

So I did not push him but then he asked me ÒI have read that Bhagavad gita, what is this Krishna consciousness? I tried to answer his question with examples on how we imagine happiness to be a...

Gaura Purnima Sankirtana lila from Okinawa,Japan

Dear Prabhus, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Yesterday an amazing thing happened while Gita Govinda was on Sankirtana.Ê I was out chanting with a mrdanga in my usual spot and my friends walked by with a donation box for the earthquake victims. I called them over and dropped a 500 yen gold coin in their bucket and gave them a mantra card for their daughter. Gita also gave a small donation on Gaura Purnima but I did not know that until later. I had come back after fasting all day, took a little Prasad,...

Sankirtana anyplace, anytime!

Hare krsna Prabhus, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! My wife Bhaktin Shannon and I were moving from our base in Arkansas to New Vrindavan. After a few hours of driving, we decided to take a break and take advantage of a local mall in the suburbs of St. Louis to distribute some books and Prasadam. It was 9pm. We noticed most of the people were milling around the Starbucks on the corner. We struck up a conversation with the two ladies behind the counter, mentioning how we like to cook and share what we make...
