Nice surprises
Hare Krsna, Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada! As I’m writing this, I’m on my way to Africa to try to do what I can to increase book distribution there. Krsna has an amazing way of making nice arrangements: On my flight to Lagos I had a six-hour stop over in Houston, so I asked some friends to pick me up and take me to the new temple. The temple is the most...
Robin Williams gets books
Many years ago I was standing in Union Square park, in downtown San Francisco, with a little box of books. There was an art festival going on, so I slipped in and out of the park so the security wouldn’t bother me. At around 10:30 a.m. I noticed a very familiar face walking through the show with his family. It was Robin Williams, a leading American actor and comedian. To get his attention creatively, I fanned out the books I had in my...
Overcoming dualities and turning a negative into a positive
When we distribute books, we really see the dualities of this world. I was distributing at Venice Beach in Los Angeles, probably the biggest tourist attraction in LA and a big attraction for the locals as well, when I approached a man saying, “Excuse me,” to which he replied, “Shut up.” The next person I approached put his hands together and said, “Namaste, Hare Krsna.” In the Bhagavad-gita Krsna...
Miracles happen
Hare Krishna, Revati and Jyotsana went out to preach in Nelore and happened to meet a doctor. They waited outside his office for thirty minutes, and the doctor’s assistant kept on telling them. “You are wasting your time waiting for him. He is an atheist.” By the Lord’s mercy, they succeeded in meeting him. While looking toward them he made a remark that he was not going to listen to anything about God. When...
BBT books in Arabic and other languages for distribution worldwide
We have great news about printing Srila Prabhupada’s books. For the first time, the BBT's Far East/Middle East division has printed Arabic books. Srila Prabhupada once said, “Anyone who preaches in any way in the Muslim world, I take the dust of their feet on my head!” Preaching in Muslim countries can be risky, and that is why Prabhupada said this. But now we find Muslims all over the world, and the book...
Nellore residents rescued from kaliyuga
Hare Krsna, In Nellore, a Caitanya-caritamrita and Srimad Bhagavatam marathon is going on nowadays. That Lord Gauranga is the only hope for kaliyuga is what we realise when we see people welcoming a Caitanya-caritamrita set into their house. For the last two months, two of our devotees, Revati and Jyotsana, were trying to meet one person, but he was the type of person who didn't reject their invitation, but neither was he ready to...
