Books Bring Great Devotees

Books bring great devotees

I was at a gathering of lady disciples of Srila Prabhupada who were relating their memories. Here are two book distribution stories told at that meeting.

Jagajannani mataji had been reading Prabhupada's books, ordering them by mail order. She became anxious to meet devotees. She and a friend went to a University campus where four bramacaris were doing Harinama. There was a young boy with them, so she talked to him for a while and at one point she asked, "Wow, this singing Hare Krishna they are doing is so nice, I wonder, if I joined, do women get to do this, too?"

The boy replied, "Yes, they do Harinama when they are not doing books." She thought he meant that they do Harinama but they mostly stay at the temple and do book keeping.

A couple of years later Jagajannani found herself distributing Prabhupada's books in an airport. Suddenly it dawned on her, 'Oh, now I know what he meant!"

After that Jagajannani did a lot of books in Denver and Los Angeles airports.

Mother Ramboru was a brand new visitor to the temple in Germany. She and her friends piled in a car and went to the Sunday feast. One of her friends got a Bhagavad-Gita. On the way home in the car her friend said that the book distributor had told her, "just by touching this book you will achieve self-realization." So each of them took a turn on the way home in the car hugging the Bhagavad-Gita to their hearts for five minutes. I suppose it really works because Ramboru dd became a very wonderful disciple of Srila Prabhupada.
