Book Sold on Film

Johannesburg:

The shooting of an episode of the "Abhay Charan" television series is being done right now here in Johannesburg. One scene was that of a Harinam party dancing through town. [it's supposed to be Detroit in 1970]. I am playing the role of Shyamasundara Prabhu. When the scene was done, the director and cameraman asked me to discretely walk up to a group of non-devotees who were discussing among themselves outside a nearby tatoo shop and try to sell them books, while the camera was filming.

I therefore walked up to them, and, just like we do on regular sankirtana, I showed them the books and asked for a donation. By Krsna's mercy, one of them agreed. It was one of those sweet exchanges that we experience sometimes with the conditionned souls. And the best part of it is that it was all perfectly captured on film for Abhay Charan. So that man did a double-in-one act of devotional service: He bought a book, and at the same time he unknowingly acted very spontaneously and naturally for Abhay Charan. Haribol.
