Book distribution at Universities in Southern California
While distributing at a university, I showed the Gita to a Muslim man who approached my table. I was showing pictures to him and giving him some explanations.
When I finished explaining the five horses as the senses, he asked me, “How much do you want for this book?”
I said that we ask for a donation for it, and he gave a nice donation, and I gave him an invitation to the temple. I'm finding that more and more Muslims are taking Srila Prabhupada's books. Now we also have his books translated into Arabic.
Another day, a young man came to my table and said that he worships the Grim Reaper.
I said, “That's interesting. You're the first person I've met who worships the Grim Reaper.”
He responded, “Oh, yeah. I've met him.” I showed him the Bhagavad-gita, and he liked it and gave a nice donation for it. I hope that from reading the Bhagavad-gita, he'll give up the worship of the Grim Reaper and worship Lord Krishna or Visnu, the Lord of Yamaraja and the Yamadutas, who for some represent the Grim Reaper.
The next experience I had is interesting, because it shows how Krsna protects His aspiring servants. I'd been distributing books every day for four days at Cal State Northridge. On my last day there, while I was distributing my last Bhagavad-gita, a university authority came to my table and asked me what I was doing. I told him that I'm distributing books and asking students to give a donation for them. He asked whether I have a permit for this, and I said I did and handed him my paper. He looked it over and said I need a different permit to receive donations. He said this just as a student was giving me a donation for my last book.
I said to the authority, “Thank you for letting me know. I'll get that proper permit.”
It's nice to be under the protection of the Supreme Controller and Authority, who doesn't allow a blade of grass move without His sanction.
