A Moment’s Association . . . Leads To Potent book distribution

Just a moment's association with an unadulterated book distributor is so valuable that one can be elevated to the same platform as him. In this particular case, I was able to distribute a book soon after reading an email from my friend at the Manor, Ananda Caitanya Prabhu, a powerhouse on book distribution. After eating breakfast and then reading his email and chanting the rest of my rounds outdoors on sunny Inis Rath Island, I happened to be at the dock just after a boat arrived and two couples were disembarking. They said, "We are...

Giving our life

After a seminar I gave in Rostov, an elderly Russian lady asked for my blessings that she can continue distributing books. I said, "I hope you have all success is distributing Srila Prabhupada's books for many years to come. If you don't mind my asking, How old are you?" She responded, "I'm eighty." "How long have you been distributing books? "For twenty years." "Wow! And how did you become a devotee?" "I was a Christian nun getting ready to be put in a prestigious position of high...

Mysticism

I'm in Rostov (Russia), where there is a sankirtan festival, and devotees from all over Russia are here. This morning Caitanya Chandra Caran Prabhu, a disciple of Jayapataka Swami, who has about 1,500 disciples in Russia, was speaking to everyone on Skype and encouraging them to distribute books. He told us of a sankirtan adventure that took place during the Communist era. The police had confiscated quite a few boxes of books from an apartment during an unexpected visit. Some devotees boldly went to the police station to try to retrieve...

Good news from ISKCON Silicon Valley

I got an opportunity to glorify Srimad Bhagavatam to my Chinese boss, as she was asking me some questions about my upbringing, culture, etc. After talking about SB and how it helped me not only learn philosophy but also English and other subjects, she insisted that I offer her a entire copy to teach it to her own kid. Your servant, Priya Kishori Devi Dasi A man sitting on his front porch and solving some work issues on his laptop asked what our purpose was in coming there. Later he asked questions about how to influence his family to practice...

From a Russian jail

I worked as a senior flight attendant with a good salary and roamed freely around the world. I had a beautiful pregnant woman and everything seemed complete, but in my heart I felt a terrible emptiness. The world had no attraction, as nothing made me happy. I started to smoke marijuana and take drugs. The grass and drugs made me feel better for a while, but finally began to make me feel worse. With all my strength I tried to abandon drugs, but I could not. The grass held me in her arms, and I did not have the strength to leave her. One...

Team spirit

Monthly Sankirtan Festival is a successful program to involve householder devotees in book distribution. In large cities, the commute time to the temple is a major barrier for devotees who live far from the temple to come out for sankirtan. In many cases, devotees spend 1-3 hours in the commute, leaving little time for actual book distribution. Also, for most people, cold weather, rain, wind, etc., cause major health issues. In Toronto, the team eliminated the distance barrier by creating 5 teams with geographical focus of book distribution...

Two Highlights From The Waikato

Recently, I went on a six-day stint in the Waikato. I was in Hamilton East–in a small car park–and stopped an athletic lady. She happened to be Joelle King, the best women squash player for New Zealand. After an injury, her ranking dropped from No. 4 in the world to 17th. Six months after her recovery, she is now up to 11th in the world. But she explained that she isn't satisfied. Her sports psychologist suggested meditation to her, and there I was, holding the books that give the most authentic knowledge and the fullest inner...

A Perfect Sequence of Events

On Rama Navami, after an ecstatic morning program, we went out to distribute books, but were delayed by unusually heavy traffic and arrived later than expected at our South Auckland spot. As I parked, a lady appeared outside the car. Inspired from within, I jumped out of the vehicle and talked with her. Siella (see attached photo) has a real interest in yoga and meditation and was very happy to look at the Science of Self Realisation. Explaining that she likes to randomly explore books before buying one, she opened the SSR and began to read....
