Ratha Yatra Los Angeles
Hari Hari We just had a really nice Ratha Yatra here in LA, they say it was the biggest ever. I was at the book both, behind me was a full set of the Srimad Bhagavatam so I started meditating on how nice it would be if I could distribute it. A half hour later an Indian man came to the table. I asked him if he had the Bhagavad Gita, he said he did, I then asked him if he liked to read, he did. That was all I needed to hear, I started glorifying the amala puranam, he asked how much. He'll be busy reading for awhile. Another guy came to the...

I was on a train to Prague from Berlin, while I was in my compartment chanting gayatri a young man steps in and ask if he could come in because someone in the other compartment is smoking. I invite him in and he starts a conversation while I'm chanting gayatri, what to do. Then as he's eating his cake I take it as a chance to finish. Then we started talking, it turns out that he is from Culver City California, where I was based for ten years. He was also a student at UCLA University where I used to distribute books, he remembered...

SRILA PRABHUPADA LOCAL LIBRARIES Letter to Jagadisa I am so pleased to know that your efforts at placing our books in the local libraries is successful and it is especially heartening to learn that they already have got our books on their shelves. EVERYTHING WILL BE DESTROYED Srimad Bhagavatam 6.10.6 Cäëakya Paëòita says, san-nimitte varaà tyägo vinäçe niyate sati: everything within this material world will be destroyed, and therefore one should use everything for good purposes. If one is advanced...

VANCA KALPA… PLACES OF PILGRIMAGE By Mahat-tattva das Srila Prabhupada said he would never die, that he would live forever in his books. When two of Prabhupäda's sannyäsés were taking leave of him, he smiled pleasingly and said, “I may stay or go, but in my books I will live forever." When he heard that forty thousand hardbound books had been distributed in one week, he said, “If book distribution increases, I will never die. I will be living for centuries." [SPL 52] In this way anyone can have...

H.H Hridayananda Goswami, "Yes; one should be humble. But at the same time one should recognize the incredible opportunities which Prabhupada is offering us to represent him in a very significant way. It reminds me of a phrase from the Bible which is inscribed on the Philosophy building, Emerson Hall, at Harvard University. I am sure it is a tremendous embarrassment to the current occupants of that building, who are often atheistic with a vengeance. Many contemporary scholars are embarrassed by the Biblical sayings inscribed in their old...

This routine work, such as chanting, speaking, rising early, cleaning, cooking and offering prasadam, arati, reading books these activities are the backbone of our Society, and if we practice them nicely in a regulative manner, then our whole program will be successful. If we become slack or neglect these things, then everything else we may try will fail. So it is very important that you keep your standards very high in these activities, then your preaching will be strong. Preaching is our real business, preaching and distributing books. If...

Dear Maharajas, Prabhus and Matajis, Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. We are writing you on behalf of the Bhaktivedanta Academy, Mayapur. Our plan is to have it fixed by the coming Gaura Purnima. We would like to use the Nitai Pada Kamala for preaching with our Gurukula boys, especially during Gaudiya Vaisnava festivals held in different holy places of...

This LA-Boston plane flight proved to be another one of those unexpected arrangements. We often attempt to serve Krsna on 'our time' when in actuality we are meant for service on 'His time'. While having finally reached our aisle seat, I focused on some quiet chanting as this corporate lady next to me began this loud conversation with this Corvette car collector in the window seat. The dialogue ranged from cars to violin making, to studies under world renowned composers, music teachers, dollars and cents. I felt quite...
