Book Distribution at Los Angeles Ratha Yatra
During the Ratha Yatra devotees distributed 3,000 little packets of Krsna's mercy, these packets contained a Reservoir of Pleasure, prasad, a Jaganath sticker and an invitation to the temple. It was so nice to see our little vaisnava youth distributing these little packs of mercy. This year we had six tables at the festival site. The festival was filled with people getting the mercy of Krsna in so many ways, prasad, books the holy name and the association of devotees. I was at the main table near the entrance. I was fortunate to have next...

By Vasudeva Datta das Here in Slovenia we have just completed Padayatra 2008. This year we were walking from Ptuj to the second biggest city in the country, Maribor. Usually we walked through the villages but this year through the passionate city. We did not know what to expect but later it turned out to be the best preaching field. We more than doubled the sankirtan scores from the last year. We were 3 full-time book distributors and each day one devotee from the Bhakta Program would join us. In 16 days we distributed 3.441 books, out of...

Last year the bus party from Sri Sri Radha-Gopinath Mandir (Chowpatty) went to the coal mines to distribute Srila Prabhupada's books. After a heavy Saturday, we decided to take a break on Sunday. We thought we would just cover the morning shift and return at 11:00 am to honor a big feast. But Sunday turned out to be the day when there were the most workers, because many came to work to earn extra money for overtime. Our stall went on till 2:30 pm, and we had three separate stalls at different mines. All we had to eat was a handful of...

I was distributing on one of the longest shopping streets known to me in Europe, in Stockholm. This time of the year many tourists are expected. I'd hoped to meet some Germans as I drove through Stockholm with a little stock of German books, but it seems that they all vanished from Stockholm. Nevertheless, after just a few minutes, I met a girl who was obviously enchanted by Indian culture. She was carrying a hare-nama chaddar and had Sanskrit prints on her hands. She wasn't at all the hippie type of person, but actually serious, much...

Battlefield Bhajans Vol. 14 Dedicated to my Spiritual Master, HH Kadamba Kanana Swami, who is so kind and merciful to keep me engaged in devotional service everyday. I just returned from Balad Air Base in Iraq. I had to have some surgery performed there. As it seems, after doing this service for so long, and the austerities that go along with it, I contracted a rare infection and needed immediate surgery to correct it. The doctor who saw me thought it might have been when I was in the human sewage in Baghdad or maybe a result of a kidney...

Dear Prabhus! PAMHO. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Many devotees have requested that I share this amazing story. Last year, at the invitation of my godbrother Darshan Prabhu, I went to Mexico to give some book distribution seminars and take the mercy of the Vaisnavas there. As the devotees drove me from the airport to the temple, I saw many billboards advertising the most famous drama in the history of Mexico, which had been playing steadily in one theater for fourteen years. The director and main actor in this play is Roberto Gomez...

Mishra Bhagavan and Sri Rangavati were traveling from Houston. She was wearing a pink sari and he a dhoti and bright yellow T-shirt that read 'Prabhupada on Tour'. They pulled into a little town known as Cameron. Sri Rangavati suggested that they do sankirtana at some stores there. It looked really slow: the type of desolate parking lot that tumbleweed would roll across. She reasoned that these people will see devotees and anyone buying a book would bring Prabhupada to the town. The second...

At the end of June there was a yearly heavy-metal festival called "Tuska (pain) Open Air Festival" in Kaisaniemi Park in the center of Helsinki. I can easily get into some small talk with the participants of this festival, and on that weekend we distributed books at the Helsinki railway station, near Kaisaniemi. Some 36,000 people participated in this festival, and streets were colored, or should we say, darkened, with men dressed in black, gothic-style; ladies with black, purple and red hair and black make-up. Many of them took our...

Dedicated to Srila Prabhupada and the wonderful devotees of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu I have less that forty days left in Iraq. I look back at my time spent preaching in this area and am amazed. Not amazed at what I accomplished, because actually I did nothing. I just assisted Srila Prabhupada. But amazed at situations and realizations the Supreme Lord allowed me to experience. The Lord allowed me to be able to do a little service here, and I am grateful for this chance. Iraq for me is not about war against insurgents. It is about war with my...
