The Compassion of the sankirtan devotees

Dear Devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. On Dec. 26 I met a nice Indian gentleman at our San Fransosco Harinama. He said that he was a devotee of Krishna his whole life and now he was facing some hard times. He had lost his job and had no where to sleep. He said that he was losing his faith. We were standing at the book table when he asked, "What can you tell me? I don't know what to do." He asked if he could stay at our Temple, but I explained that it is very small and there may not be...

Nectar

Hare Krishna. Please Accept my Humble obeisances. All Glories To Srila Prabhupada and His Most Wonderful Book Distribution Mission. In Late September I left my motor home in the U.S. and travelled around the globe to distribute books in Australia. On the way I stopped off in L.A., one of my favorite stops. I met Brgupati, Vijaya, Partha Sarathi, Prem Sankirtana, Sacitanoi, and many other great Sankirtana devotees. The New Dvaraka community is quite large and a little difficult to manage for that reason, plus being in such a large city as Los...

The December book distribution in Mumbai started right after the notorious terrorist attack in the CST station and other places. The atmosphere was tense and full of suspicion and mistrust. Devotees had planned to distribute books at prominent railway stations and also in the local trains, but the attack had raised fears of uncertainty about the reaction of commuters as well as the Railway authorities. Will the permissions be cancelled? Will the authorities allow distribution of Bhagvad Gita in public places when the communal tension was so...

Hare Krsna ! All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Sri Gaurangaæ ! All glories to Srila Prabhpada ! All glories to all the Sankirtan devotees at all times. We visited an alcohol dealer in New India. He was a lively Sikh man. He said he never encouraged people to drink too much. We said we encourage people not to drink alcohol at all as it is harmful for the health, wealth and their spiritual life. He then said, "Bhagavat Gita is a wonderful scripture." He ordered 200 Bhagavat Gitas. Your Servant, rakesh uberoi new...

The Books flow in Fiji

Hare Krsna Prabhus, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. I'm on a little world tour to try to increase the distribution of Prabhupada's books. The first stop is Fiji. The devotees here are mainly householders, with the corresponding responsibilities, but still they sometimes go out. The day after I arrived I gave a sankirtan class about the importance of spreading the knowledge of Krsna consciousness. Afterward I was pleasantly surprised to find sixteen devotees go out door to door distributing books....

Battlefield Bhajans Vol. 31

Written in Portland, Or Dedicated to HDG A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada Hail & Farewell It is a military tradition that when a senior leader changes duty stations or retires, or gives up command we have small get together and speak of the wonderful service they have done, and present them with a gift. I usually try and avoid these events, because I am not so into them. My first sergeant (highest enlisted member of my Unit) was retiring, so I went to show my support. This person was a driving force for getting my paperwork together and...

The Greatest Gita

Once we were distributing Srila Prabhupada’s books in the coal mines when we met an officer who was a guide to students working for their Ph.D. in Hindi literature. He had guided six students for Ph.D. He regularly writes for a religious journal and also edits books. When we showed him Srila Prabhupada’s books he asked, “I have read eight commentaries on Bhagavad-gita. What new thing do you have?” We still pressed him to at least see the books. “OK,” he said. “I will just read the...
