A Gita for the flight
Returning from the year-end festival in Otaki, New Zealand, I saw a young man sitting by himself at the Wellington airport. We made eye contact as we entered the boarding area. I had a Bhagavad Gita with me and wanted to distribute it before going to Sydney. I prayed for inspiration and went for a walk in the waiting area scanning for a favourable person. I happen to start a conversation with this young man, Latrell, and asked whether he was a sports person. He said that he plays league for the Roosters and lives in Bankstown, Sydney, and is...

At the start of the end-of-the-year marathon, although I wanted to go hard on the street and distribute heaps of books for the Lord, I was finding it extremely difficult to stop even one person. Most of my book distribution efforts on the street lasted for fifteen minutes and were very difficult. After a while I decided to catch a train home and help get New Gupta Vraja ready for the retreat. I got on the train early with my suitcase and eventually every seat was full except for the one next to me. A young guy walked onto the train, but I...

Around one and a half years ago, while distributing Srila Prabhupada's books on a street in Blantyre, Malawi, I met Mr. Khan, a Muslim businessman from India. He was amused to see an Indian sadhu in a dhoti and kurta on the busy streets of a remote Central African country and asked me in Hindi what was I doing. I explained to him that I was from the Hare Krishna movement and was distributing books about how to develop love for God. At that time he bought some small books. A few days later, when we met again on the street, he started...

Hare Krsna, Quite often Krsna will save the last Bhagavad Gita in my cart for a really special person. Sonny, the last person I met on Dec 22, told me his story about how he tried to commit suicide by jumping off a building. He landed on his head and damaged his spinal cord. He was told that he would never walk again and he couldn't use his body to do anything for himself. He said that he promised God that if he could walk again, he would quit drinking and smoking. While in the hospital, he met a man who performed some kind of healing...

Hare Krsna, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! I just attended from the biggest festival in Australia, the Woodford Festival. For those of you that have been on BDN for a while you'll remember this from my wrtiting about it last year. It keeps getting better. About 130,000 people go to this festival during the six days it goes on. We have a portable restaurant there distributing thousands of plates of prasada, and people generously donate for the prasada. One customer said to me at my book table next to...
