Appreciating the mercy of guru and Krsna

Today, as I ate breakfast in the Melbourne temple, a devotee gestured over my shoulder and asked whether I'd met a young man sitting behind me.

"Do you know Camillo?"

I looked behind and saw Camillo in civilian clothes, his back toward me. I had noticed him in the Bhagavatam class and had smiled at him. He smiled back. I was happy to see someone new to Krsna consciousness with a japa bag.

"No," I replied. "Is he new?"

"Yes. You gave him a book a few months ago in Sydney," said Bhakta Jeff.

After breakfast I spoke with Camillo after I saw walking down the stairs, his hands full with the empty prasada trays. I wanted to hear how he met the devotees.

He is from Columbia, and when he bought the Science of Self Realization from me some nine months before, he had just started a three-year degree in a university. When he moved to Melbourne a few months ago  — maybe he dropped out of the degree program — he came across our restaurant. Attracted by the "All you can eat" sign, he walked in. Now he's coming for classes and doing service. He really got the mercy.

As we parted ways, he looked at me humbly and gratefully said. "Thanks, prabhu, for giving me that book."

I stood there feeling awed, seeing the mercy of my guru and Srila Prabhupada. This should give us greater impetus to do our small part for Mahaprabhu's mission. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Your servant,
Giridhari-priya dasa
