A lady named Faith My Kay

Book Distribution

She introduced herself with a Maori name, which translates into English as Faith My Kay.

In the beginning of the interaction, she came off a little abrasive. We told her we were doing a study on consciousness and that she looked very conscientious.

She said, “I doubt that.”

We were showing her Hiding in Unnatural Happiness, and asking her how she stays so peaceful. In response, she told us that she tries to see the light within all beings.  We were a little bit shocked at her elevated reply. So we pulled out the Bhagavad-gita and went for it.

She took us by storm!

We showed her the pictures, starting with how a sage sees with equal vision. Then moved on to changing bodies and explained how real action happens on the eternal platform.

Enthralled by the message of Godhead, she pointed her finger out and casually said, “I want that.”

I thought she was pointing at a tree and maybe had some psychological problems. Luckily, Kathamrita, my sankirtan partner, picked up on her subtle cue and asked her if she meant that she wanted to go beyond the material dimension. Somehow Supersoul was helping us from within to know that she was pointing to something beyond what we can see.

So Kathamrita asked, “Do you want to act on a transcendental platform?”

She nodded, so we continued,  “Okay if you want to know what's beyond this dimension, then you need transcendental knowledge. That way you can understand your purpose in connection with the Divine.”

There was a pause, then she nods.

“Ultimately we're meant to serve the Supreme will.”

She nods. “Yeah, that's what I want.”

All I know is that she went in a bank, got $40 and took Srimad Bhagavatam, Bhagavad Gita, and Hiding in Unnatural Happiness. She was enthusiastic about learning how to do devotional service!

Haribol.

A few hours later, Kathamrita was outside of Count Down, enticing shoppers with Srila Prabhupada's books, when one lady named Lessy rushed passed asking us to come to her home later in the afternoon. She didn't have any money and was in a rush, so we took her address and assured her we would drop off books at her home on our lunch break.

It was around 3 p.m. when we rolled up to 25 Greenaway Ave.  Strolling through beautiful blossoming trees in the courtyard and walkway, we knocked on the door. No one answered. Thinking of Lord Chaitanya's determination to distribute the fruits of love of Godhead, we patiently staked out the house. We parked down the street while taking prasadam. Utilizing every moment!

It started pouring rain, and we decided that we should get a little wet before re-approaching the door, to get some sympathy.

Just then a car rolled up and into the driveway, and I said, “Lessy's home.”

After grabbing some books we eagerly slinked back over. A young woman answered the door. She said no one named Lessy lived at this address.

Feeling duped, but not wanting to waste the opportunity we sheepishly asked, “Do you like yoga or meditation?”

She enthusiastically said, “Yes! I love yoga! I actually really wanted to learn more about meditation, but haven't had time yet.”

So we explained that we got this address from a woman who was also interested and that she asked us to come over to show her books.

She said, “I love books!”

We presented a Bhagavad-gita, and she asked how much it cost. We said we try to cover the cost of printing of the books.

She said, “Oh, I just got money out. I don't usually, which is kind of random. But anyway, let me go get you some money!”

She came back with $40.00 so we loaded her up with Srimad Bhagavatam and Hiding in Unnatural Happinesso. It was ridiculous.

We felt used in a twisted web! Lessy's lie helped distribute three transcendental books, and we learned that by trying to be an instrument, Krishna will always use you, just not in the way you think He will.

Param vijayate Sri Krishna Sankirtanam!
