Srila Prabhupada’s books are so potent, they sell themselves
One cold winter day during the marathon in Vancouver Canada, I started out with enthusiasm, but after a few hours of rejections, I started to feel like I was wasting my time. It got so bad that I stopped my usual way of approaching people and just stood there kind of mumbling at people as they briskly ran past me to get out of the cold weather.
Eventually, I saw this fellow walking towards me. He was amongst a large group of people and had his head down.
As he walked by, I held up the book and kind of mumbled something. I didn't even notice him stop until I heard, "Did you say something to me?"
He caught me off guard as I was so spaced out. I had to quickly pull myself together. I figured he was going to blow me off like everyone else, so I didn't really try to sell him the book. I just showed it to him in an unenthusiastic, low-key manner and said a couple of quick things.
I was just about to get to the donation part of presentation when he shocked me by asking: "Where can I buy this?" Needless to say, he bought the book and gave me a nice donation. As he was putting the *Bhagavad-Gita*in his backpack he looked up at me and asked: "Would you like to know why I stopped for you?"
I said, "Sure".
He told me that people on the street try to stop and sell him stuff all the time but he stopped for me because he liked my * approach! Srila Prabhupada's books are so potent that they sell themselves!*
