Don’t judge the book from the cover……..

bhagavad Gita

That it was a really cold day made book more necaterian. Nobody was stopping, all of a sudden this student passed by with his huge headphones I waved to him, smiling he took off his head phones. I presented the gita saying everyone with a smile gets to see a copy.

He (His name was Tom) happily grabbed the gita opened the book and started reading. He said he studies religion and phylosophy and he really liked this NETI NETI (not this, not that) philosophy. I explained how that comes from the vedas and Gita is the essence of the vedas.

He asked so many questions about India, Hindus and vedic culture. I answered to my best capacity, he was happy with my aswers. So when I asked him to kindly take a copy of the Gita he looked at me seriously and asked, "This book will not convert me into a Hindu right?"

I said, "What's so special about Hinduism? We already have a billion confused Hindus in india and we don't need another one." Then I explained how the Gita is a spiriual science and will give an amazing experience through the process of connecting the soul with supreme soul.

He immidietly ran to the ATM pulled out $20 and gave it to me and took the Gita. Finally I gave him an invitation to our preaching center, Gaura Yoga, in Wellington NZ and when he saw the words Krishna fest on the invite card he started freeking out. He asked me " You are not part of the crazy Hare Krishnas that sing and dance in the street are you?" Oh my Krishna, I thought he is going to ask for a refund, praying intensely inside I said, "Yes I am part of the Hare Krishnas but I asked him, "You look like a spiritual guy, why are you so judgemental, why do you judge the hare krishnas? We just dance and sing happily in the street without any intoxication, we are vegetarians helping the ecology, we do lots of charity work around the world." He became quickly pacified and said, "Yes, I shouldn't judge the book from its cover."

He promised me he will read the Gita and come to our outreach center.
