Anyone Can Take a Book

As I distributed books last Sunday morning in the park, I saw one guy who seemed a bit gloomy. I stopped him and started my usual mantra: "Hello, I'm from the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. We're distributing some books about spiritual knowledge. They"
He interrupted me and said, "I'm looking for a girlfriend. Can you help me?"
Before I could reply he repeated the question, adding a note of desperation: "I reeealy need a girlfriend. Can you help me!?"
Somehow the words just started popping into my mind: "Well, I can't help you with that, but I know someone who can." And I handed him a Science of Self-Realization. "This book speaks about Krsna, the Supreme Lord. He's the source of all beautiful women. You can read this book to learn about Krsna and then ask him for a girlfriend. He can definitely help you."
Amazingly, he took the book and without hesitation gave a donation, adding that he would start reading it right away. I invited him to the temple so we could speak more about Krsna.
After he walked away, this verse came to mind: akamah sarva-kamo va: "Whether one is full of material desires or has no material desires or desires liberation one must by all means worship the supreme whole, the Personality of Godhead, Sri Krsna."
