Sankirtan Stories

By Ananta Nitai Das (Ireland)

A funny incident happened on Grafton Street in Dublin. Two girls were rollerblading near the local park. I rode up near them on my bike and started talking to them. They stopped. Eva was very favorable and took two books for herself and her friend Sinead — "The Higher Taste" and "The Science of Self-realization." I found it easy to get Eva to chant, and soon she and I started chanting Hare Krsna together, as Sinead

looked on glumly.

I said to Sinead, "Look! Eva is chanting. She's very intelligent."

Sinead retorted, "I know what you're trying to do. I'm not going to chant or buy a book or get involved in your brainwashing cult. I have a degree in psychology."

"Ok, Sinead," I said, "you win." And she carried on rollerblading — expertly, I might add — while Eva and I carried on chanting.

A few moments latter a man approached and asked what I was doing. I jokingly said we were putting on a rollerblading exhibition to raise funds for the Hare Krishna movement.

He pulled out his wallet and gave a donation, and I gave him one of Prabhupada's books — "Teachings of Lord Caitanya."

Books went out like that for some time, all due to Sinead's really expert rollerblading exhibition.
