Srimad Bhagavatam

I heard that Srila Prabhupada once said, 'there are brahmanas at every corner. You just have to pick them up." The following story, which happened last month in Nice (France), illustrates this point.

I was standing on the street at the entrance of a very large and busy electronic/music store called "La FNAC." One young man with a pony tail walked by me, heading inside the store. I stopped him and I showed him Srimad Bhagavatam. Stunned, his eyes widened, and he exclaimed, "I can't believe this!! I can't believe it! I was JUST going into this store to buy a copy of the Ramayana! I'm very very much interested in Hare Krishna. In fact I met you guys some time back in Scotland. Then I also saw you in Peru. I am going to India in one month, and I have a lot of questions I want to ask…."

Sure enough, Keveen, who is half American, bought three books. As a gift I gave him the DVD documentary of the installation of the Mayapur Panca Tattva deities. I also invited him to visit us at the Mayapur festival in late February. Keveen wrote me the following words a few days ago:

" Dear Chandra, I'll be in India on the 24th in bombay, then bumming around with my bike. I hope I'll get the opportunity to cycle to your place [Mayapur] and enjoy your rich spiritual life.
