How wonderful Krsna is
Dear Prabhus,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
I hope everyone is appreciating the stories and quotes that are being sent for your pleasure and inspiration. Although I want to please the devotees by sending out stories, the main reason for the BDS is to inspire devotees to go out and give this great treasure of knowledge to those who are not as fortunate as ourselves.
I was just listening to a lecture by Srila Prabhupada in which he said, "the symptom of love of Krsna is that you want to glorify Him, that you want everyone to know how wonderful Krsna is". This quote by Prabhupada could also be used as another way to avoid going out, by thinking, "I don't have love for Krsna, so why should I go out".
But if your chanting the names of Krsna and hearing about Krsna then there must be some love for Krsna. So please Prabhus whenever you get some spare time, go out to where people gather in your area, or go door to door and give out the mercy.
Now for another story that I hope you'll enjoy and be inspired by .
Today I spoke to a devotee that I distributed books with in the late 70's and 80's. His name is Radha Lingana Prabhu, a disciple of Srila Prabhupada.
He told me this story:
I was distributing in the Miami airport when I approached a man. The man said if I wanted to speak to him I would have to walk along, he was in a hurry. I walked along showed him the books and explained a little about them. The man said, "OK, I'll take them, gave a donation and hurriedly went on his way. When I looked at the bill I saw it was a hundred dollar bill, I didn't know if the man thought it was a ten and he had accidentally given more than he wanted, but anyway he was gone, and wow! What a nice donation.
Then after about ten minutes I saw the man coming towards me. I thought, "I guess he realized that it was a hundred instead of the smaller donation he wanted to give".
The man said,"Are you the person I just gave a donation to?
"Yes, I am".
"Well, I really appreciate what you're doing, so here's another donation".
He gave another seventy dollars. I then gave him another five books.
