Demigods help the devotees – story from travelling sankirtan in Londo

Norwich

Here is a nice story that happened to us a few weeks ago on travelling Sankirtan:

" A demigod takes pleasure in seeing someone go back to Godhead. He is always pleased with the devotee of the Lord, so much so that by his adhidaivic powers he may help the devotees in all respects. And by their actions, the Lord is pleased with them. There is an invisible chain of complete cooperation between the Lord, the demigods and the devotee of the Lord on earth" SB. 1.19.18 SP Ppt

This purport really came alive for us the other week. It was our first day out on travelling Sankirtan after we had just had a bit of a break at Bhaktivedanta Manor. We had pulled up in a carpark in Norwich early in the morning… and it was pouring down with heavy rain non-stop all through morning programme and prasadam… we thought that it was not going to stop and both myself and bhakta Ed were praying that the showers would stop so that we could go out and distribute Srila Prabhupadas books nicely – we were praying "dear Indra if you so desire pleae stop the rain!!"

When it came time to leave the rain was still hammering down – so Bhakta Ed thought I'm just going out anyway… literally as soon as he put his foot out the van, the rain miraculously stopped… so we both headed out to the street, myself following just behind Ed. A few minutes into the walk to town I wasgoing through an underground subway and a man was walking towards me. As he walked past he looked me in the eyes and said "Now that you are out, the rain has stopped !!". I thought this was strange as we were in Karmi clothes and had no Tilak.. anyway we carried on to Town and ended up having a really good day on Sankirtan… there was no rain and the sun even came out, it appeared that Lord Indra had heard our prayers… but that is still not the end of the story…

We got back to the van in the evening – I climbed in first and then Ed followed behind me… and guess what… literally as soon as Ed had got in and shut the door… the heavens opened and the heaviest rain that you can imagine started to pour from the skies… and then there was thunder and winds… BUT now we were in a warm van eating nice prasadam…
