Book Distribution is Contagious

Book Distribution is Contagious

Recently, Udhayan Prabhu, one of the devotees attending the Bhakti Vriksha program in our house, met me in the train that I distribute Srila Prabhupada's books in every day. He was on his way to Mumbai, but he spontaneously volunteered to carry the books and distribute some books himself. We did a good number of books that day.

A few days later I met one of the persons who had taken a copy of the Ramayana in English compiled by Bhakti Vikasa Swami that very same day that Udhayan Prabhu and I were distributing books in the train. This lady was so happy to see me again that just upon seeing me she started to narrate her experience of reading the Ramayana. And she said that she had even spoken about the book at one of her conferences.

She then said, “Today I am going to carry your books for you on this train while the train goes to the next two stations, and I will also distribute Srila Prabhupada's books.”

She left her bags in the care of an unknown fellow passenger, and together we distributed thirteen big books, which is a record for that train. She was very enthusiastic to distribute Srila Prabhupada's books, even though she did not know much about them. She ended up with a score of four big books, just by hearing carefully what I was saying to others and repeating a few of the words.

This reminded me of how Udhayan joined me to distribute books on train without hesitation. In the process, his sincere service and pure heart to serve Srila Prabhupada, sowed the seed of devotional service in the mind and heart of this lady. She is named Rajeswari. All glories to Udhayan Prabhu's and Rajeswari's sincere efforts and devotional service. Episodes like these are the only impetus and inspiration for me to go on book distribution (sankirtana) every single day. Thanks to these nice devotees for giving me their association.

It reminds me of my old days in Seattle, when I saw the devotees and followed the lead of Hari Vilas Prabhu and learned to distribute books just by seeing how he distributed them to new people at fairs. Lord Krishna helps everyone from within to take part in the service to Srila Prabhupada and the sampradaya acharyas.

December 21, 2015 is the advent anniversary of Bhagavad Gita. On that day we can try to please Srila Prabhupada by giving the Bhagavad Gita to our relatives or friends. I request every member of this group to take part in this Bhagavad Gita distribution December 21st, which is also Vaikunta Ekadashi.

Your humble servant,
Sridhara Srinivasa Dasa
