A Nectar Concert in North Carolina
Last Saturday night Mathura Prabhu (a local devotee from the Hillsborough temple community), Bhakta Shoban from Mumbai and myself drove to Charlotte to try to distribute books at a large Rave concert. As we were driving, it was raining like anything. We got to the large parking lot early and by Krsna's Divine Grace, it suddenly stopped raining as soon as the first cars full of SWEET SWEET innocent young american teenagers started pulling in. For the next few hours it was completely nectarian: 95% of these kids were SO favorable, practically all vegetarians , all into Eastern philosophy, all into alternative lifestyles, purple and green hair, clothes from the 80s', all so friendly and pious. We sold 150 big books in no time. It was really what Prabhupada said in that letter to Ramersvara Prabhu "fight with Maya means to drop hundreds and thousands of books into the laps of the conditionned souls, just like during wartime the bombs are raining from the sky like anything." We just approached their cars as they pulled up, told them to roll down the window, dropped Srila Prabhupada's books in their lap, and asked for a donation, which they generously gave with appreciation, awe and respect. One young man told me "it's so cool you guys are out here!" All glories to Srila Prabhupada's greatest gift to humanity: the activity of approaching everyone with his books and trying to convince them to buy them.
